AutoCAD Release 14
Network Setup Wizard Readme

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following information is meant to assist you in verifying key
checkpoints after you have completed network deployments with the Network
Setup wizard. Please refer to specific instructions outlined in the
AutoCAD Release 14 Installation Guide.

Once you have finished running the Network Setup wizard, you will have
accomplished one or more of the following activities:

If you have review the

If you are planning to use a network distribution tool for automating the
installation of AutoCAD to remote workstations, see the Deployment Tools
section that follows.

Client Deployment Checklist
---------------------------
+ Verify that the share you have created for the client deployment is
readable and accessible to the client sites that will be running the
setup program (SETUP.EXE) that you have created..
+ If you wish to maintain a NWCLIENT.LOG of all activity and status for
clients that run the installation program, ensure that the client
   deployment share is writable.
+ If you're using the Autodesk License Manager, make sure that you have
obtained your License Manager Authorization Code from Autodesk.
+ If you're using the Autodesk License Manager, make sure that the
Autodesk License Manager server is running.
+ When notifying clients to run the installation, point them to the
SETUP.EXE at the root of the share you have created.
+ If you are using Microsoft SMS(c), make sure you review the Deployment
Tools notes below; otherwise, notify your sites that they may install
AutoCAD from the share you have provided.

+ Run the AdLM WinAdmin utility from the Autodesk License Manager program
group (Windows NT 3.51) or Program Start menu. Contact Autodesk to
   obtain your Authorization Code.
+ After obtaining your Autodesk License Manager Authorization Code, you
must start the Autodesk License Manager server from the program group
(Windows NT 3.51) or from the Control Panel from Settings on the Start
   menu, select the AdLM icon.

Deployment Tools

Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) (c)

A template PDF file is available on the product CD in the NETSETUP directory
for customizing deployments. Use the file ACADNW.PDF for network deployments
where clients will run AutoCAD from a server. Use the file ACADCL.PDF for
client deployments. These files have been designed for import into Microsoft
SMS(c) versions 1.1 or later.

In general, you will not want to specify the entire deployment tree you have
created, only the SETUP.EXE and IMAGE\APPSETUP.INF files. This will save
time during the SMS package creation and compression activities. These two
files will direct the installer to obtain its files from the appropriate
deployment tree you created using the Network Setup wizard. It is important
that this deployment tree remain accessible during the distribution process
because there is a pointer maintained in the APPSETUP.INF in the installation
package that will direct the program back to your original deployment share.

When a deployment is launched on a client workstation to install either the
network or client version of the software, an SMS MIF file is created in the
Windows directory of each client machine that runs the deployment whether or
not you used SMS for distributing the deployment tree. This file contains
the following identifying schema association with AutoCAD:

Serial Number* [The serial number of the AutoCAD licensed to this user]
  Manufacturer* Autodesk
  Product* AutoCAD
  Version* R14.0
Installation* [Date and time stamp information]

* These fields represent the default SMS database schema.

The SETUP.EXE located in the deployment directory also supports unattended
uninstallation of AutoCAD on a remote workstation. The /U or /u switch
will uninstall the copy of AutoCAD located on the workstation from where
it is executed. Example:

      SETUP /U
